Warning: 05/07/05 - This Critical Warning has been issued by HP.
- PHSS_30967 introduced behavior that may cause dynamically
loaded 32-bit setuid applications to fail because the
SHLIB_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables are
ignored for setuid programs. The applications may fail to
start due to missing libraries or may abort at startup due to
libraries being loaded in a different order than intended.
- The same behavior is observed with superseding patch
PHSS_30969.
- The previous patch, PHSS_30965, does not exhibit this same
behavior.
- To avoid this behavior, HP recommends removing PHSS_30967
and PHSS_30969 from systems on which 32-bit setuid
applications are failing as described above. If you choose
to remove these patches, HP recommends installing PHSS_30965
after they are removed. If PHSS_30965 was installed prior to
PHSS_30967 and PHSS_30969, it will automatically be restored
when they are removed and it will not need to be
re-installed.
- Please note that PHSS_32229 and PHSS_33403 are dependent
upon PHSS_30969. If PHSS_30969 is removed, PHSS_32229 and
PHSS_33403 must also be removed.
- This behavior will be corrected in PHSS_32863, which is
expected to be released by the end of August 2005.

of a call from within a libpthread routine, the thread
(pthread_setcancelstate) will try to acquire a lock

a hang. the fix will be to not disable async cancellation
from within _shl_bor and do it only from within other
entries into critical section.

1. Back up your system before installing a patch.
2. Login as root.
3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.
4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:
cd /tmp
sh PHSS_30969
5. Run swinstall to install the patch:
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true \
-s /tmp/PHSS_30969.depot
By default swinstall will archive the original software in
/var/adm/sw/save/PHSS_30969. If you do not wish to retain a
copy of the original software, include the patch_save_files
option in the swinstall command above:
-x patch_save_files=false
WARNING: If patch_save_files is false when a patch is installed,
the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful
when using this feature.

available in the product readme:
